COLLABORATES IN THE RESEARCH OF THE CETACEANS
Would you like to know the world of cetaceans by the hand of your own researchers?
Naturaleza Ibérica and SECAC gives you the possibility to collaborate in a scientific project that investigates the cetaceans of the Eastern Islands.
Side by side you will work with the scientists and you will know the species of the waters of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura where 25 species of cetaceans live.
You will learn to identify the different species of cetaceans observed and to familiarize yourself with the techniques of field research together with experts in the field.
You will learn about the most interesting aspects of the life of cetaceans in the area.
The work to be developed in the sea includes the study of the groups of cetaceans found (the structure, the photographic identification (Photo-ID), the activity patterns, the behavior through direct observation and the recording of the acoustic activity, as well as the collection of environmental and sea turtle data (tissue samples, weight, body measurements and reading and implantation of microchips).
The program will not only give you the opportunity to learn about these large mammals but also to collaborate with the economic donation that will be used entirely to cover the expenses of the project.

The program may experience variations due to the weather conditions so we always advise that if you come from outside the island, do it with a few extra days.
The navigations will be made with the KOGIA semi-rigid boat, 6 m long and a four-stroke engine of 150 HP.
We will go out to sea at 09: 00h and we will return to port around 17: 00h -18: 00h approximately, although the duration is indicative and will be supeded to the state of the sea and the work to be developed.

Possibility of accommodation in a pleasant and comfortable 3-star hotel that faces the sea, just 5 minutes walk from the Marina de Arrecife.
